This detached, mid twentieth century family home had been little altered since it was constructed and was in need of updating to reflect the needs of a growing family.
The compact integral garage was difficult to use, there was a general lack of storage and utility areas, whilst the substantial living area was cut off from an undersized kitchen.
After carefully listening to the needs of our clients we developed a new layout that responded to their desires and how they wished to live; the garage was converted to provide a much needed utility room, a new w.c., new store and importantly a new home office. We then opened up a wall and pushed the kitchen into the living space, and with the insertion of new windows and a run of folding-sliding doors, we created a fantastic, contemporary, family kitchen/ dining area. The final piece of the jigsaw was to construct a new wall that separated off the original living room from the kitchen/dining area, thus providing a quiet, comfortable space that could be closed off from the rest of the house when needed.
