Knowsley Village Hall

back to community

Situated at the heart of the picturesque Knowsley Village, on the outskirts of Liverpool, this wonderful village hall was built by Lord Derby for use by the community.

Whilst much loved and well used by the local community, the building’s facilities were in need of updating, whilst the existing layout and access were restricting use of the spaces.

Our brief was to develop proposals that would build on the demand for the use of the spaces from community groups and allow multiple groups to easily use the building at once whilst refreshing and celebrating the existing architecture.

In addition, it was important that the building attracted new income streams to ensure the protection and preservation of the facility for future generations; our proposals also therefore included incorporating facilities that would allow the building to be used as a high quality wedding venue and a conference centre for the large number of businesses in the local area.

In addition to a full refurbishment programme, our proposals included the demolition of an existing, poor quality extension and the creation of a new high quality addition to the side of the hall to house a separate entrance, toilets and a substantial catering kitchen. When combined with amendments to room layouts and circulation, this proposed extension ensures that this fantastic building will have the flexibility to easily accommodate multiple uses at the same time, whilst also allowing the building to be only partially open for use by smaller groups.
